Below is the general order of the process after making your appointment

A licensed veterinarian will travel to your home to discuss any concerns, thoughts or questions regarding the process of humane euthanasia for your loved one. Some brief paperwork, including the consent form and choices for aftercare, along with payment will then be completed.

Our veterinarian will first gently administer a sedative injection under the skin to ease discomfort and allow your pet to become calm and comfortable. The sedation is similar to anesthesia and eventually your pet will become completely unconscious. Occasionally, your pet may look back or vocalize with the first injection, but the relaxation starts to take effect in about 5 -15 minutes. A thorough sedation assessment will be performed by the veterinarian to make sure they do not respond to stimuli before proceeding with the euthanasia injection. Your pet’s eyes remain open as all their muscles slowly relax, but you will begin to notice any pain or discomfort slip away as the sedation takes effect.  They may snore and take deep breaths. During the entire process, you can remain at their side, talk to them, love them, and hold them. However, you also can choose to leave the room at any point during the euthanasia.

Once fully sedated, the final euthanasia injection is then administered by our veterinarian. The euthanasia injection is an intentional overdose of anesthesia and allows for the final gift of a peaceful passing with no pain or distress. Once the final euthanasia injection is administered, most pet will pass away within 5-15 minutes.

After they've passed, we will give you privacy to say your final goodbye. If cremation is your choice for aftercare, we will then wrap them in a blanket of your choice. Smaller pets will be placed in a basket and larger pets will be gently secured inside a cloth receptacle and respectfully transported on a stretcher out of your home and to our partner cremation facility.
